Built with heart and soul, managed with passion: When Frank Sittig founded Jen-Ophthalmo in the beautiful optics city of Jena in 1991, he had exactly one goal in mind. To establish himself as a competent contact person on site. And to offer his customers the entire portfolio of ophthalmological products and services from a single source.
The next generation will benefit from this. In 2017, after three decades in the industry, Thomas Köhler took over the company from his longtime friend Sittig. And so we look forward to a digital future with a large network and a wealth of expertise. Together with you, we are looking forward to it. And as specialist outfitters and retailers, we supply practices, large practices and medical supply centers, as well as opticians and optometrists with high-quality ophthalmological equipment.
We are more than just a dealer, by the way. We also manufacture our own examination units – we have sold 1100 of our best-known refraction unit, Modula, since 1997.

Our location in Jena? Could hardly be better. This is not only because of the idyll in the beautiful Saale valley – but also because it is home to the who’s who of the optical industry. In addition to an inspiring working environment, the location enables us to network directly with companies such as Zeiss, but also to exchange and collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, specialist dealers and optometrists directly on site.
